An Addiction to Technoloy

On Friday night my cell phone committed suicide. While tragic and unfortunate nothing electronic can last forever. But OMG am I ever going crazy without it. I did not realize how much I relied on my phone, and it became incredibly apparent when I did not have it in hand. Work, school, family, friends- I did not have a means to communicate with them. Even silly things like keeping track of time, I haven't used a watch in years and constantly consult with my phone to figure out if I'm late, on time, early or still have the time to do things, not to mention checking how much longer I'm stuck in places. My scheduel is even on the blasted thing. How utterly frustrating.

And ugh, budding romance. Texting, or whatever the new slang word is that exists to describe techno-aided relationships. Checking in at night, or when out with friends to simply let them know I'm thinking of them. Arranging dates, and plans while at work or in class, none of that can happen. (Although Casanova in training DID offer to come to my rescue by lending me his first phone till I can find a new one, so we can, you know, keep in touch).

Yes, yes. I hear you saying to pick up the damn phone. I don't have anyone's numbers, excuses, excuses. I enjoy talking on the phone, and that's just fine and dandy, but texting lets me multi task. :P

Hopefully this week I can replace it. But jeepers are those little bundles of technology expensive. To purchase a phone without a contract is aburdly high prices. 500 dollars, or 59 on a 3 year contract. Ya, been there done that, not taking a three year contract when the phones barely last me a year. But does the cost outweight the convienience? Or vice versa?

Damn you cellular technology. Damn you to hell.
