Meet the Chief's Friends

Can you say gong show?

The Chief and I have the same group of friends, except now they're kinda, but not really former friends, or at the very least only sometimes friends, some I haven't seen in years! Among his comrades is my very, very ex boyfriend.

For his best friends birthday there is going to be a beer night, held at a bar. I am not going with the Chief, he is going to drink with his friends, and I get to show up later, after, whenever. I managed to rope K2 into participating in this disaster, mainly because she too was former friends with this crew. We managed the football team together, and know some of these boys better than I sometimes wish we did. Most of them we both love, totally and completely. They are boys that we took care of and would do anything for. Others, not so much.

Fashionably later, and taking 15 minutes to find decent parking we walk up to the bar. "You're leading" She says, giving me a little push towards the door. Of course I am. I have no idea where I'm going and I'm kinda dreading showing up. I'm not even sure if the Chief has told his friends that we're dating at this point, so this could get really interesting really fast. As we approach the table, and sit down on the stools, I look up and notice... Ex-boyfriend. Sitting directly across the very long table from me. He naturally won't look at me. Fraidy cat. I don't bite... hard. But this is only one of the three disasters of the evening.

K2 dated this boy once. Who cheated on her with this girl. At bible camp. Mhmm, true story. Guess who we sit beside at the table? Cheaty face ex-girlfriend. I'm pretty sure K2 is unimpressed with the turn of events. But she is sociable and friendly, and smiles, between sarcastic and scowly text messages asking me why I let her let me talk her into this. But it gets better. Our very, very ex-friend, daughter of a preacher and rebellious as hell with her sexy body and crazy tattoos is in attendance as well. And she feels the need to get up, walk clear across the bar and offer hello's and welcomes. I'm okay with this, I'm all about making amends for things these days, fixing it and moving on. K2 is not happy. At all. Then ex-friends younger sister swings by, obviously excited to see me. She rubs her breasts all over mine, and my back, gushing about how great it is to see me. This is more action than I've gotten in days, so I let it go. Ex-boyfriend still won't look at me. K2 finds this, and the fact that the Chief is visibly stressed out by the fact that he thinks we're not having fun.

I am having a blast. I am highly entertained by this former group of very close friends and lovers. I throughly enjoy catching up on the gossip and updates from everyone's lives, despite the fact that we're shouting, and I'm not sure I've even seen his best friend the birthday boy yet. My favourite friend Big D is sitting beside me at the table, totally hammered, and breaking my heart with sentimental stories of football and how much we meant to him, and how great things were, and how our smiles kept him going through football training camps. This makes me smile. The Chief is suspicious of the fact that we're smiling when we should be either looking bored or ready to run.

Ex-boyfriend slowly moves up the tables, getting closer and closer and closer. Too close. Until he's finally pressed up against my back, hand on my shoulder, talking to someone else. I am unhappy. K2 texts the Chief, curious if he's ready to jump across the table and knock tiny Ex-boyfriend out. I think he'd be more than willing if he wasn't trapped in the table. I think it'd be a boring fight. The Chief would absolutely obliterate him. I think they should let me torture him instead. Or at least let someone smaller than the Chief do it. I laugh at his agitation, he's so cute when he's jealous and nervous and worried.

Eventually K2 and I decide that despite the love from Big D that we're getting it's time to jet. I didn't get to sit on the Chief's lap, so I text him. "I'm going home with a girl tonight ;)"
His eyes are a little bit wild as he looks up, totally shocked. I wink and smile. We get up to leave, say our goodbyes and give our hugs to those worthy of them. The Chief offers to walk us to the door. I have no illusions of seeing him again tonight. So I hold him close, whisper in his ear, kiss him softly and turn to leave. He slaps my ass. Hard. Like stingy hard. Like I'm pretty sure everyone with in 3 feet in the noisy bar heard it hard. "You better lick that better. Or kiss it. Whatever" I text him as we leave the bar. I love teasing him.

I think all things considered meeting his friends went well. It was like reintroducing a Tiger into the wild. The hunting grounds are familiar, I'm just a little bit out of practice. And the group enjoys the pretty stripes, so I think it'll all be okay.

20 minutes later I'm sitting at K2 place with her and the Fiance regaling them with tales of the evening, and the Fiance requests that I text the Chief and invite him over, offering to pick him up. I explain calmly that tonight is his best friends birthday and there is no way in hell the Chief is going to ditch.

20 minutes after that the Chief is holding my hand in K2 kitchen as we drink Malibu and 7 and  the boys drink scotch and we're making cheesecake and brownies with my favourite 4 am couple. Life is good.
