The Virgin and the Whore

The concept of virginity is highly debated. For many it is a reference to the experience of sexuality. It's woven into the fabric of family values and honor. Maintaining your virginity until after marriage is a highly prized attribute. In high school it is often a challenge, as evident by the many movies that involve teen boys seeking to lose their virginity before college, girls preparing to give themselves away after Prom. In the news there was the girl who was auctioning off her virginity to the highest bidder. What is the value of virginity in today's day an age? Most of us have enough common sense to not be promiscuous, as there is a vicious reputation attached to that (At least for women. Damn double standards). What pleasure does the virgin have that the non virgin does not? Is marrying a virgin that much more desirable than having a partner who knows how to participate in pleasure? What actions defines the loss of virginity? Is is any type of sexual action? Is it oral, anal penetration? Is is kissing or hand holding or groping? What IS virginity? Can you really be a born again virgin? Can your will yourself chaste and virginal by simple intent? How about through prolonged abstinence? Is going years without sex enough to remake your status of virgin or is it lost forever once you choose to give yourself away?

What do you think?
