Star Wars

It turns out the Chief has a deeply rooted hatred (or phobia) of large crowds of people.

We went to see Star Wars in Concert last week. Which, by the way, was freaking amazing. A live symphony orchestra played all of these pieces of music from the various Star Wars movies while they showed various clips from the various movies on the big screen. Throw in some green laser light shows and the real C3PO narrating it and I'm happy. I'm blissful when there are tons of fans dressed up as Star Wars characters happily milling around looking at the Star Wars memorabilia that the group brings with them to all of their shows.

I was skipping gleefully through the thick throngs of people. Darting and dancing my way through the people who are  ogling the displays and blocking the way, while everyone else haphazardly  went in whatever direction seemed to suit them. The Chief does not enjoy the randomly directed and full crowds. The agitation was clear on his face, but he laughed as he watched me prance around through people not caring at all. I can't WAIT to take him to Disney World!

"You ENJOY this, don't you?" He asked sourly. I nodded, kissed him and kept exploring. I made a compromise with him that I wouldn't try to see the displays until AFTER the show was over and everyone had cleared out- this way I would be able to see the displays and he wouldn't have to deal with the throngs of people.

The tickets to the show were a gift. I can't remember for what, but the Chief is the world's best present giver. After pushing through people he handed them to me with a huge smile on his face. The man had gotten us floor seats; one of the many talents he has that I love him for. He was noticeably less annoyed with the people once we were cozy in our very close up seats.

We held hands and laughed and clapped and had the most incredible time. The music was amazing, and the film clips were from all of my favourite parts of the movies. And after it was done we sat and talked and watched the different costumed people filter out. When there were less people we walked back around and took pictures of all the memorabilia. The highlight of this adventure was the 4 year old who had a light saber key chain, and when faced with a life size Darth Vader, he attached him with his key chain light saber. Priceless. That or the two five year olds dressed like Vader and Obi Wan who had REAL fake light sabers and were fighting each other vigorously on the front lawn. Also awesome.

Overall a most wonderful date night. The Chief and live music are an absolutely perfect and romantic mix.
